Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wood have returned home to Wilton, N.H. after spending a few days at their cottage on upper Mattawamkeag Lake. While here, they visited with their niece, Riva, did a bit of work on the cottage and had planned to do some kayaking, but the weather put a stop to that, as it became rainy and wet.
Also, while here they treated niece, Riva, to lunch at the new cafe in town and had their lunch on the balcony overlooking the river — the view was great and so was the lunch. Mrs. Alan Chamberlain, Chris Chamberlain and Mrs. Pauline Robbins have arrived from West Point, Va. to spend some time here in the area and to visit with Alan Chamberlain. They will all return to Virginia around the end of August. Now that the Summerfest activities are over many of the people who were here to take in all the fun have returned to their homes and the area is now back to normal.
The weather was fairly good during Summerfest week now we are back to the rain and damp. Did have one day when I could get out to mow and got quite a lot done, but still have half of it to do. Found a slew of new skunk holes during the mowing. I wonder if they ever quit?
I have seen a few gold finch around and will soon be back to giving them their sunflower seeds. Have seen no deer lately and wonder if they will appear when it gets cooler. Maybe when the apples are ripe and have fallen on the ground will we have any deer visitors.
