UMPI’s Reed Gallery showing “Wise Women”

PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Fine Art Gallery presents “Wise Women: A Celebration of their Insights, Courage, and Beauty” by Joyce Tenneson from Sept. 2 through Oct. 15.
Her exhibit is a display of her photographs on metal. The public is invited to view the exhibition and attend a reception, in conjunction with the Presque Isle First Friday Art Walk, on Friday, Sept. 6 from 5-7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Distinguished Lecturer Series presents Joyce Tenneson
PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle presents its first Distinguished Lecturer for 2013-14, Joyce Tenneson, who will deliver her talk “Wise Women: A Celebration of their Insights, Courage, and Beauty,” on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center. Tenneson is a world-renowned photographer whose portraits appear frequently on covers for magazines such as “Time,” “Life,” “Newsweek,” “Premiere,” “Esquire” and “The New York Times Magazine.” A reception and book signing will precede her talk from 5-7 p.m. in UMPI’s Reed Fine Art Gallery. Tenneson’s lecture is free and the public is invited to attend. FMI call 768-9452.
UMPI holds inauguration
PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle invites the public to attend the inauguration of Dr. Linda K. Schott as its 11th president on Friday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m. in Gentile Hall. The inaugural theme is “Linking Generations Through Teaching and Learning.” The ceremony will involve all generations of learners, from small children to lifelong learners. Delegations from more than a dozen elementary and secondary schools in the regions, as well as many other officials and distinguished guests, will take part in this moment in UMPI’s history.
