Florist brings beauty to all seasons

    Karen Duncan and her staff know a lot about beauty and what makes a perfect celebration — whether you’re celebrating a birthday, anniversary, wedding or any number of special occasions.

    The owner of Cook Florist, Inc., located at 174 Main St. in Presque Isle, Duncan is surrounded daily by Mother Nature’s creations, from roses and carnations, to daisies, mums, lilies, a variety of houseplants and more.
    From get-well bouquets to house-warming gifts, the local shop has something for every occasion.
    “We design fresh flower arrangements, sell plants and deliver locally,” said Duncan. They can also send flowers to destinations beyond the local market.
    “We have a versatile and talented group of designers,” said Duncan, adding, “Amy Murphy and I are both certified Maine Master Designers; Amy won Maine Designer of the Year in 2007, 2009 and 2011.”
    In addition, Duncan said the family’s interest in the business, as well as a dedicated staff, have ensured success.
    Duncan said pleasing customers is of utmost importance, since flowers factor into the creation of so many memories. Floral arrangements can make or break any occasion. Staff work passionately to make those moments memorable.
    Customers can choose from a variety of containers — coffee mugs to vases — suitable for men, women, teens and children. There’s also a wide selection of helium balloons in designs for any occasion.
    In business since 1943, Duncan said Cook Florist has remained strong over the years thanks to a combination of customer service and the many repeat clients — some returning for generations.
    “We have wonderful customers and a great reputation,” said Duncan.
    “Customer service is our highest priority. Without them, we wouldn’t be here,” said Duncan. “We’re a local business serving local people. We respect our patrons and do our best to please them.”
