CARIBOU — Business and Professional Women members met June 8 at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center in their 92nd annual State Conference. Business matters such as electing new state officers, voting on budgeting issues and state legislative platforms were discussed.

The ladies also had a guest speaker, Nancy Nichols, M.Ed, LCPC, from Presque Isle. Ms. Nichols, a counselor, facilitated a group activity in which members determined their own personal temperaments and how awareness of temperaments and learning styles can be utilized to improve ourselves in the workplace and in the organization. She was a dynamic speaker and her work was much appreciated by the organization.
The ladies were served a delicious lunch by Caribou Inn and Convention Center staff members. The day was wrapped up by prize drawings and a meeting of the local presidents throughout the state.
The mission of the Business and Professional Women is to empower women and promote equality in the workplace through advocacy, community education and service. The group also raises funds for scholarships to be given to women who are either just beginning their college career or non-traditional students returning to school.
