MORRISSETTE, Shirley M. (Pinette) Carney, 78, PRESQUE ISLE, at Mars Hill, August 20, 2013. A memorial service will be held on Sat., Sept. 7, 2013, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Shirley M. (Pinette) Carney Morrissette, 78, died August 20, 2013, at the Mars Hill Nursing Home surrounded by her children after a year-long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born in Wallagrass, ME, May 19, 1935, to Aurelle and Grace Pinette.
Shirley worked tirelessly as co-owner of Shirley & Harold’s Restaurant, Presque Isle, from 1982 until closing in 2009. Through the restaurant, she helped feed the underprivileged in town. She worked in the restaurant industry for over 50 years. She was loved by all who met her and she gave generously to her community. She was a devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Presque Isle.
She is survived by her children, Mark Carney of Presque Isle, Theresa Hoffses and her husband, Karl of Beaverton, OR, and Anthony Carney and his wife, Jeri of Hampden, ME, Troy Carney and his wife, Marie of Presque Isle; grandchildren, Aaron Carney and Landon Larsen of Presque Isle, Karley Hoffses of Salt Lake City, UT, Mitchell Hoffses of Beaverton, OR, Carson and Cameron Carney of Hampden.
She was predeceased by brothers, Bernard, Bertrand and Milford; sister, Elaine; son, Warren Carney, a newborn baby; and husbands, Robert Carney and Harold Morrissette.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Main St., Presque Isle.
