Become a Hotline volunteer

To the editor:
The Hope and Justice Project is inviting people to their Fall Hotline Training. Becoming a volunteer with the Hope and Justice Project is a rewarding experience. As a volunteer you might be the first step on someone’s path toward happier, healthier relationships and life choices. You would offer support and important information as people affected by domestic violence and dating abuse talk about their situations.

Becoming a volunteer is easy. All it takes is a heart for others, a listening ear and 35 hours of training. That might seem like a lot, but every caller’s situation is different and often quite complicated, there’s a lot to be aware of, learn and understand. The training is free. The training is held at the Presque Isle office at 209 State Street. It will be Oct. 2nd to Nov. 20th , every Monday and Wednesday night 5:30-8:30 p.m. Then, you can answer the hotline right from your own home — or you’re welcome to come into any of our offices if you’d like. The best part is you can set your own hours. We are grateful for whatever you can give. We like to be able to count on our volunteers for three shifts a month (overnight from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. or any part of the day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and it helps if you can keep your days or nights consistent.
Becoming a volunteer will help make a difference in the lives of people affected by abuse and violence: adults, teens and kids.
I invite everyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer or if they just want more information to contact me at 764-2977 or by e-mail at volunteer@hopeandjusticeproject.org.
