Home Care for Maine has been specializing in helping older and disabled adults stay at home — where most people want to be — since 1994.
“We understand that each customer is an individual and their service needs to be provided with that in mind,” said Vicki Mihalik, program director. “Our staff is well-trained and willing to work in the most difficult of situations. We believe that partnering with customers’ families to provide optimum care in a manner that meets their needs is critical to the success of remaining in their homes.”
With 18 full-time and more than 600 part-time employees, Home Care for Maine offers in-home personal care services, housekeeping and respite care.
“Our personal care services help people with personal needs while they live in the community,” said Mihalik. “We work with adults with physical or developmental disabilities, and the elderly. Personal Care Assistants would assist with personal care and hygiene needs, as well as household duties, shopping and transportation.
“Homemaking services can help with a few things around the house for yourself or a family member to help live independently,” she said. “Homemaking services are designed to provide non-medical assistance with routine household tasks like dishes, making beds, laundry, dusting, shopping and transportation.”
Home Care for Maine is a private, non-profit that is operated by a board of directors.
“Our agency is a Maine-based business run by Maine people; customers are cared for by people in their community who understand the customs of Maine people,” Mihalik said. “Big business is not our focus; however, customer care and quality of life is a priority. We recognize that our customers make the decisions about their care and we are there to support those decisions. Customer service is our number-one priority.”
Headquartered in Farmingdale, the business provides services throughout the state that consumers or family members pay the cost themselves, although some private health insurance and long-term care insurance policies cover in-home care services.
