The wealthy vs. the poor
To the editor:
I have often wondered why people who are wealthy seem to use their wealth to reflect the power and control over the poor, which they have. They put themselves upon a pedestal and proclaim to the world, look at me and where I am.
Having an abundance of material wealth and riches is not an evil itself, but the greed and desire, which frequently accompany the accumulation of riches, are sources of social misery and spiritual danger. Riches may quite easily lead to pride and self-esteem and contempt for those who are less successful and less endowed materially.
We live in a world today where people are suffering from the financial crises that exist; and just remember one day that person could be you.
