Davida Colleen Pierce, age 86, long-time resident of Limestone, Maine died on Thursday, August 8, 2013 shortly after being admitted to UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. Davida was born on March 21, 1927, in Garwin, Iowa, the daughter of the late Carver and Ventura Haynes. She married John Pierce on March 3, 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1965.
She did housekeeping work, both for businesses and private homes for many years in Limestone. A hobby of hers was collecting owl figurines and she had many displayed in her home.
Surviving Davida is a daughter, Joanne Colleen Anderson and husband Art with whom she had made her home for the past five years.
She is survived by six grand-children, Art Anderson II, John Anderson, Timothy Anderson, Carol Jones, Tanya Bowman, and Mindy Riesdorph. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and seven brothers, Lloyd, Gary, Monty, Joe, Fred, Duane, and Jay. Davida was preceded in death in addition to her husband, John, by a daughter, Carol Ann Pierce and two sisters, Sandra and Marilyn.
