Cub Scouts to hold kick-off meeting

MAPLETON NEWS

by Jennifer Buzza

The Mapleton Cub Scout Pack 170 will be holding its annual kick-off meeting Friday, Sept. 20 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Mapleton Lion’s Hall.

Any boys looking to join a pack are invited to attend! If your son is in grades 1-5 (ages 6-10) and is looking to gain skills, make new friends and have a ton of fun, plan to go to the hall this Friday. A parent or guardian is asked to attend to register any boys with the Pack.

Musical afternoon planned at museum

The Haystack Historical Society will host an afternoon of music Saturday, Sept. 28 from 1-4 p.m. at the Old Mill School Museum in Mapleton. Everyone is welcome to attend.
This event will be similar to the old-time Caleigh or “kitchen party” so popular in days past in Aroostook County, and still very popular in places like Cape Breton Island today. Like a traditional Caleigh, homemade oat cakes (cookies), along with tea and coffee, will be served by members of the historical society.
Bring your instruments and share a tune, or just come and enjoy the great toe-tapping music.
