What message
does fire truck purchase send?

So I am confused again and again. I know I am getting older and older but can still read our greatest information source in Aroostook County that comes through our very own “The Star-Herald” weekly news.
I was quick to notice the front page news this week “City Council approves purchase of a $522,592 Fire Truck.” As I see it that is over 1/2 million dollars (WOW!)
Just a few months ago our city council was discussing if we could keep a full-time, full-force approved fire department crew. This was saved only by a grant.
We have no outdoor swimming pool, and apparently an inadequate rec center and they are trying to cut the SAD 1 budget, but have money to purchase a new fire truck?
Now my question is how much will the local insurance companies invest in this over half-million dollar heavy framed piece high priced fire truck?
