TAMC to hold drive-up, walk-in flu shot clinics

   PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — With the most severe flu season in recent memory last year still fresh on their minds, TAMC officials are planning seven upcoming free seasonal flu shot clinics in central Aroostook County to get as many community members vaccinated as possible. The health care provider will offer four traditional walk-in clinics, including one for pediatric patients, and three of its popular drive-up clinics — the largest number ever.
After successfully trialing the concept in 2011 with one drive-up clinic in Presque Isle, and expanding to a second location in Caribou last fall, TAMC will again expand to offer a third drive-up flu shot clinic in Fort Fairfield this October.
TAMC’s fall 2013 flu shot clinic schedule for Caribou and Fort Fairfield is as follows: • Saturday, Oct. 12 — Caribou, 10 a.m.-noon (drive-up clinic) at TAMC’s Caribou Health Center in the Bennett Drive Shopping Plaza. In addition to attending the Caribou drive-up clinic, the public is invited to stop by an open house at County Physical Therapy’s Fitness Center, located next to Caribou Health Center on Bennett Drive. The open house, scheduled from 10 a.m.-noon, will feature tours of the center, door prizes and snacks.
• Saturday, Oct. 12 — Fort Fairfield, 2-4 p.m. (drive-up clinic) at TAMC’s Fort Fairfield Health Center (former Community General Hospital Building) at 33 High St.
“To get a flu shot at the drive-up clinics, simply follow the signs in the parking lot, put down your window, complete some very simple paperwork, and roll up your sleeve,” said Reynolds. “Our flu shot crew will administer the vaccine as you sit in your car. After you receive your flu shot, you can be on your way. It really is the easiest way to get vaccinated.”
Flu shots offered at TAMC’s fall clinics are provided free of charge and are appropriate for adults of all ages.
