Soccer play continues in Caribou recreation youth leagues

     CARIBOU — The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department’s pee wee soccer program continued with more games played Sept. 9 and 11.
    In the grades 5-6 World League, Parker Deprey scored on a penalty kick for Real Madrid in the second half of action against a strong Barcelona team. Teammates Abby St. Peter, Daniel Uchenda, Hayden Hunter, Ezra Judd and Abigail Allen all played well on defense and offense. It was a total defensively played game for Barcelona. Benoit Levesque put the ball between the posts, also in the second half. Great teamwork was turned in by all Barcelona players.

    In another matchup, Manchester United had goals scored by Ethan Holdsworth, Brevin Barnes, Owen Martin and Jordan Duplessie. Assists were credited to Madison Stratton, Dakota Yakel, Logan Cheplic, McKenna Smith, Barnes and Holdsworth. Cheplic and Martin did an excellent job in goal. Stratton and Smith continued to both play solid defense and Duplessie was solid as the center midfielder distributing the ball to others very effectively.
    Players on Team Chelsea turned in outstanding all-around efforts, with Riley Bouchard, Edie Shea and Ben Lagasse playing great offensively with good passing. Defensively, Alya Theriault and Destinee Goodridge were the standouts.
    Real Madrid played well against a good Chelsea team in a contest played indoors. Goals were scored by multiple players, including Sawyer Deprey, Tiernan Barbosa, Parker Deprey, Hayden Hunter, Kaden DeMerchant and Abby Allen. Assists went to Abby St.Peter, Ezra Judd, Riley Cavagnaro, Joseph Cimino, Aiden Plante and Jack Doody.
    Cory Herbert played well defensively for Chelsea.
    Barcelona and Manchester United squared off in another match. Owen Martin had an excellent game in goal in the first half for Man U. Matt Smith and Jordan Duplessie played their hearts out on defense. Ethan Holdsworth found the net for a “hat trick” and Barnes assisted.
    Caleb Espling, Benoit Levesque and Malachai Willey all scored for Barcelona. Espling played outstanding in goal the second half, making several amazing saves while not allowing a single tally.  Kimmie Susi, Alex Picard and Ryan Dee all showed great footwork and control.
    In the grades 3-4 Premier League, the Galaxy and Red Bulls both played a great defensive game. It was a solid goaltending performance by PJ McDonough, Jacob Palmer and Abby McNeal. McNeal even made a great save on a penalty shot. Goals for the Red Bulls were scored by Konnor Huckins and Colin Poitras, assisted by Cameron Belanger and Araya Caverhill.
    Saffayia Durepo, Trey Gilbert and Reece Cavagnaro all took duties in goal. Great passing from Lauren Craig, Kate Doody, Dawson Whitten and Kay-lee Parker helped the team stay focused in this contest.
    The Timbers and Revolution met in another matchup. The Timbers’ Avery Knowles had several nice shots on goal but came up unlucky. Logan Griffeth, Landon Thompson and Daryl Freeman fought hard as well offensively and defensively with great hustle.
    In a contest between the Revs and Red Bulls, Mackenzie Hite played a great defensive game for team Red Bulls. Isacc Andretta had many great saves in goal as well. Abby McNeal, Griffin McNeal and Konnor Huckins each put the ball past the Red Bulls’ goal line.
    The Galaxy and Timbers then met up, with Logan Griffeth, Liam Dee and Landon Thompson all playing very well on the fast indoor surface and scoring goals. Freeman played great defense and Christopher Corbin had some great saves as goaltender.
    Galaxy goals were by Ari Plante and Lauren Craig. Mia Theriault and Plante notched assists. Saffayia Durepo, Emma Kilcollins and Dawson Whitten showed tremendous hustle all over the indoor field.
