HOULTON – Gordon Eugene Hanning, 62, passed away peacefully from a long illness of COPD on September 21, 2013 at home in Houlton, Maine. He was born September 18, 1951, the son of Percy K. and Donna I. (Michaud) Hanning.
Gordon enjoyed mechanic work, and carpentry work. He made many furniture pieces and refurbished old pieces. He put a special touch on anything he made; he could take a sow’s ear and make a purse. His work history includes local contractors, independent work and for ten years was employed by Wilbert Vault of Aroostook where he was a vault setter and mechanic, keeping five large trucks on the road.
Gordon is survived by his brothers, Johnny and his wife, Millie, George, Rodney, Gerry and Fred; his sisters, Gloria and her husband, Robert, Sheila, Mary, Leslie, Dottie and her fiance, Gary; he was very fond of a special lady, Brandi Gene; several nieces, nephews and his good friends and neighbors the McGarys and the Smiths. He is predeceased by his father, Percy Kenneth Hanning, mother, Donna Isabel MacDonald, his brother, Billy, and sisters, Brenda and Sharon.
At Gordon’s request, there will be no funeral or graveside services. There was a potluck gathering for family and friends on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at the Maliseet gym at 12 noon. Online condolences and guest book: dunnfuneral.com.
