Girl Scout unit honored
The Girl Scout Sapphire Service Unit received the President’s Award this past spring.
Sapphire Service Unit Team Members from the 2011-12 membership year were Girl Scout leaders Nancy Winslow of Mapleton, Kyla Legassie of Easton, Michelle Cummings-Warren of Presque Isle, Jennifer Buzza of Mapleton, Dina Harding of Presque Isle, Tricia Wells of Presque Isle, Nicole Lockhart of Easton and girl members Madison Cummings of Presque Isle and Miranda McLean of Easton.
In the 2011-2012 membership year, the Sapphire Service Unit retained 70 percent of girls and 75 percent of adults in the unit. They also grew their membership by 11 girls, which was an increase of 6.4 percent over the previous year.
