AYBL tryouts
The Aroostook Youth Basketball League will hold its grades 5-6 Caribou tryouts Oct. 8 and 10 at Caribou Middle School.
The girls’ tryout will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on both dates, while the boys will go from 6:30-7:30.
Registration will take place 15 minutes before each session.
CMS boys complete soccer season at 2-8-2
The Caribou Middle School boys’ soccer team saw its season end Friday with a 3-2 loss to Houlton. The team finished up at 2-8-2.
Bailey Griffeth had both Viking goals, with Parker Deprey contributing an assist on one of them. Nic Sleeper, Camden Huck and Spencer McDuffie were the standouts for Caribou.
The previous afternoon, Caribou fell to Presque Isle White, 3-0. McDuffie, Alex Bouchard, Alex Ezzy, Austin Findlen and Nick Allen played well for coach Steve Perreault’s squad.
Noah Frost and Griffeth tied for the team lead in goals.
Officiating classes
IAABO Board 150, representing Aroostook County, is offering classes for prospective basketball officials Mondays at Presque Isle High School.
The meeting time for the classes is 7-9 p.m. and the cost is $40. For more information, call 425-4451.
Golf tourney results
The Cornerstone Classic Golf Tournament was held Sept. 14 at Presque Isle Country Club, with the team of Tim Gagnon, Adam Robertson and Jenna Hallett taking first place for low gross with a 64 and the team of Bud Fancy, Seth Fancy and Phil Halvorson winning low net with a 59.
The second-place low gross team, with a 65, consisted of Rick Collins, Ryan Umphrey and Jon Humphrey. In third was the trio of Ron McAtee, Gary Nadeau and Eric Brown, who came in with a 72.
For net, the runners-up were George McLaughlin, Dan Boyd and Anthony Fabian, who carded a 60. In third was the team of Dominic Bua, Jesse Harris and Greg Whitaker with a 62.
Four closest to the pin prizes were also awarded. Hallett was first twice, at hole No. 4 and No. 17; Al Irving at No. 8 and Halvorson at No. 16. Ron McAtee won longest drive.
