Playoffs loom for girls soccer teams

    The playoffs are looming for high school girls soccer teams.
    Playoff games will be on Friday, Oct. 25 and the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, Oct. 29 for the Eastern Maine Tournament.

   The C-D semifinals for girls and boys will be played on Friday, Nov. 1, with all the regional finals on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The Class A and Class D state finals are Saturday, Nov. 9 at McMann Field in Bath, while the Class B-C state games will be played Nov. 9 at Hampden Academy.

    If there is a conflict with potential SATs, the game on Friday, Oct. 25 will be moved to Saturday, Oct. 26 and the Friday, Nov. 1 game to Saturday, Nov. 2 by mutual agreement.
    Houlton 8, Lee Academy 0 — Alana Pratt led the Lady Shires past host Lee last Friday night with three goals. Katie Condon, Emily Mooers each had a tally and two assists, while Bre Longstaff, Breanna Briggs and Allix Hanson all scored. Natalie Hill made two assists in the game.
    Houlton goalie Tanika Toby combined with Hannah Foley to make five saves on eight shots, while Lee’s keeper, Alyssa Stevens stopped 20 of 37 shots.
    Ashland 10, Katahdin 3 — The Lady Hornets had no trouble getting by Katahdin last Thursday, as Leann McNally scored four goals to guide them to the win. Marissa Chasse scored twice and had an assist for the 9-1 Hornets.
    For Katahdin, Erin Robinson, Bailee Moody-Kay and Kaycee Cintron all scored a goal apiece. Goalie Georgia Landry set back nine of 19 shots, while Ashland keeper Macie Bellanceau had two saves on five shots.
    Central Aroostook 3, SACS 0 — Last Thursday in Dyer Brook, the Central Aroostook Panthers proved too much for the home team. Karli Levesque scored in each half, while Molly Anthony scored the insurance goal late in the game.
    Limestone/MSSM 8, Hodgdon 0 — It took only 28 seconds for the Limestone/MSSM Eagles to take the lead against visiting Hodgdon, while continue to build momentum.
    Hodgdon netkeeper Valerie Estabrook had a busy day between the poles, with 13 saves on 30 shots faced. For Limestone/MSSM, Jordyn Hopkins and Ellyzabeth Bencivenga combined to stop 14 of 22 shots on goal.
    Houlton 8, Mattanawcook Academy 0 — Mooers and Hill each scored three goals apiece to propel the Lady Shires past the visiting Lynx last Wednesday. Jessy Dickison and Megan Collett each added a single tally, while Longstaff added an assist.
    Houlton goalie, Toby, combined with Foley for one save against four shots. For the Lynx, Sydney Robertson had nine saves on 23 shots faced.
    SACS 4, East Grand 1 — Kennedi Smith led the Lady Warriors over East Grand last Tuesday, scoring a hat trick, while Cassidy Lyons added a goal in the second half.
    For East Grand, Bayleigh Rowe found the net for the lone tally, with just 12 seconds left in the game.
    Hodgdon 3, Katahdin 0 — The game was close through the first half with Hodgdon leading 1-0 on a Lizzy Neher goal. Adding goals for Hodgdon in the second half were Anne Neher and Jamiee Theriault. Goalie Estabrook had 20 saves.
    For Katahdin, goalie Courtney Stevens, who returned to the posts after a thumb injury, came up with 15 saves.
