Pregnancy Care Center plans
11th annual fund-raising banquet
On Thursday, Oct. 24, officials with the Pregnancy Care Centers of Aroostook will be gathering at the Northeastland Hotel for their 11th annual fall fund-raising banquet. The purpose of the banquet is to invite friends, business associates and community leaders who may not know about the center.
“Attendees can hear firsthand about the ministry through our program presentation and client testimonies. While the dinner provides an opportunity for many community members to learn about the center for the first time, it is primarily a fund-raising event. It is also a time to reignite interest and enthusiasm for those who perhaps already know about the center but have been out of touch for a while. Additionally, it is a time for current supporters to see and appreciate anew the lives touched through the Pregnancy Care Center of Aroostook’s ministry,” said Christie Corey, the center’s director.
The theme for this year’s banquet is “Together for Life.”
“We acknowledge the needs in our community are huge and too much for one organization to bear alone. We are a non-denominational, faith-based organization providing services such as pregnancy tests, maternity and infants’ clothing, toiletry items, parenting classes, post-abortion counseling and pregnancy-related counseling. We also provide a program for moms to receive free baby furniture. All our services are free and confidential regardless of age, race, religion or background. In order to provide these services for over 25 years, we have needed the involvement of our community, which is how we developed the theme ‘Together for Life,’” said Corey.
The speaker this year is Myfanwy Bennet Saunders, who served as a director for Women’s Pregnancy Center in Peoria, Ill., for 23 years and as director of Women’s Ministries for Peoria Rescue Ministries for six years. Myfanwy has been a women’s speaker in Canada and the U.S. for conferences, retreats and seminars.
“I would like to especially thank our business sponsors who have taken care of all the expenses of the banquet. Because of the generosity of the business sponsors, all the money raised at the dinner will go towards our dinner goal,” Corey said.
The Pregnancy Care Centers of Aroostook are located in Fort Kent, Houlton, with headquarters in Presque Isle.
