Tuesday, Nov. 5, voters will head to the polls for the municipal election (town council, school board, Houlton Water Company board, Board of Budget Review and Cary Library Board) at the Gentle Memorial Building or better known as the Houlton Recreational Center.
Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
To help with congestion at the polls, the Houlton Town Council agreed to allow the Registrar of Voters to be at the town office during the Town Clerk’s office hours the week prior to the election, as well as extending the hours on Thursday, Oct. 31.
The Town Clerk’s office is open Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Allowing the registrar time is a state requirement and done before each election to allow people the opportunity to register to vote or make name/address corrections ahead of time. This can also be done at the polls with proof of residency and identification.
Thursday, Oct. 31 will also be the last day to get absentee ballots. However, the absentee ballots can be turned in on election day.
For anyone wanting an absentee ballot, call the town office and one will be sent through the mail or people may come to the town office and pick up an absentee ballot for immediate family members.
For further information or to address any questions, call the town office at 532-7111.
