BLAINE – Betty Agnes Scovil, 75, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on October 20, 2013, at her home in Blaine, with her husband by her side. She was born August 25, 1938, in Summerfield, NB, Canada, to Kilburn and Irene Lunn.
At a young age, Betty and her family moved from Canada to Blaine where she attended school and graduated from ACI in Mars Hill. After graduation, she went to work at Presque Isle Air Force Base, where she worked until she met Dalton Scovil; they were married on April 11, 1958. Together they raised six children, and in later years, you could always find her spoiling or taking care of one or more of her 12 grandchildren. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Betty also was the secretary for many years at their family business, Scovil Building Supply.
Betty was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Chapel in Blaine for many years. She contributed her talents in many ways, whether singing in the choir, being secretary for the church, or being a deaconess. She was also known for her wonderful cooking abilities and her friendly smile. Betty was always willing to lend an ear if you needed someone to talk to, to pray for you, or just to give a hug if you needed one. She was also a faithful listener to WFST-AM 600, calling them almost every morning to request them to play one of her many favorite songs.
Betty is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dalton Scovil; her children, Cathy Mullen, Beth and husband, Jim McIntyre, Lorie and husband, James Chao, Brent and wife, Lisa Scovil, Stephanie Barton, and Peter and wife, Lori Scovil.
She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren and their spouses, Tim and Colleen Brewer, Tyler and Jennifer Brewer, Steven McIntyre, Shawn McIntyre, Victoria McIntyre, Sara and Ryan Clark, Jennifer and Jeff Bouchard, Bradley Scovil, Brady Burlock, Corey and Anita Burlock, Joshua Barton, and Elizabeth Winslow, as well as 14 great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her brothers and their spouses, Robert and Gail Lunn, Kenneth and Judy Lunn, Burton and Sherri Lunn, Thomas and Valerie Lunn; and a special cousin who was like a brother, Wayne and Patti Lunn. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Dick Scovil.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Marilyn; son-in-law, Roger Mullen; and sister-in-law, Joy Scovil.
