HODGDON – Elwood E. Scott Sr., 91, died Oct. 18, 2013, at a Caribou VA Facility. He was born April 1, 1922, in Hodgdon, the son of Steven and Elva (Andrews) Scott.
Elwood served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during WWII in Normandy, France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was employed with the Town of Houlton Public Works Dept. until he retired. After retiring he liked to visit and socialize at the Town Garage and Guy Harrington’s where he liked to pump gas for the customers.
Elwood is survived by his wife Ines (Fredericks) Scott of Hodgdon; three sons, Elwood Jr. and wife, Diane, of Hodgdon, Wayne of Linneus, James and wife, Nancy, of CT; two daughters, Joyce Brewer and husband, Ralph, of Houlton and Noreen Wood and husband Stanley of Debec, NB; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Wendell, Harold, Stephen Jr.; and a special nephew, Steven Scott.
Friends called at Dunn Funeral Home 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Services were held at the funeral home 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in the Hodgdon Cemetery. Friends may make gifts in Elwood’s memory to the Houlton Animal Shelter, c/o Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park Street, Houlton ME 04730.
