CARIBOU — In conjunction with national Make A Difference Day, which fell on Oct. 26 this year, members of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary 9389 found a way to positively impact those in need.
On Oct. 25, six auxiliary members headed down to the Bread of Life Soup Kitchen to present officials with the charitable group a check to purchase 100 gallons of fuel oil for the quickly-approaching winter.
“We saw that they were in financial need,” said President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 9389 Pat Edgecomb of Limestone. “They’re really struggling, so we chose to give them 100 gallons of fuel oil for our project for Make a Difference Day.”
Every year the ladies group finds a way to make a difference in their community, but their ability to do so comes from hard work of their own; every Monday night, the Auxiliary hosts a community bingo night at 7 p.m. at the VFW and the group uses the proceeds to help out where they can.
