 LIMESTONE – Donald N. Craig, 68, beloved husband of Audrey M. (Graham) Craig, passed away Wednesday evening, October 23, 2013, at a Bangor healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born May 13, 1945 in Portland, the son of Arthur B. and Arlene (Sands) Craig.
    Following his high school graduation, Donald enlisted in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Donald enlisted into the United States Air Force on July 7, 1971 and proudly served his country, being stationed in several locations, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Germany for four years, Colorado for ten years and two assignments at Loring Air Force Base, where he was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant on July 31, 1991. After 20 years of dedicated service to the Air Force, he was awarded the United States Air Force Commendation Medal and the Joint Service Commendation Medal.
    He was married to Audrey M. Graham on May 12, 1973 and had been employed by D.F.A.S. at the former Loring AFB, Limestone for thirteen years as a liaison officer until his retirement in 2007.
    Donald was a member of the V.F.W. Lister-Knowlton Post Number 9389, Caribou, the former American Legion, O’bar-Phair Post Number 127, Limestone, the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge, Limestone, and a dedicated member of the Limestone United Methodist Church, where he served as trustee. Donald will be remembered as a wonderful and caring husband, brother and friend, who was highly dedicated to his family, church, friends and the United States military. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trips to the camp in North Amity with his brother-in-law and hunting partner Roland Graham and his wife Marjorie.
    Mr. Craig was pre-deceased by his parents, and is survived by his wife of forty years, Audrey of Limestone; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Dennis Martin of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Beverly and Larry Graden of Florida, and Patricia and Kenny Gott of Hooksett, New Hampshire. He will also be missed and fondly remembered by his cat, Smoky; as well as his pastor and special friend, Ellen Cleaves and her husband, Malcolm Hare of Limestone; his brother-in-law, Roland Graham and his wife, Marjorie, of Houlton; several nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends, too numerous to mention.
    In keeping with Donald’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A service to celebrate Donald’s life will be conducted Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Limestone United Methodist Church, corner of Burleigh and Main Streets, Limestone, with Pastor Ellen Cleaves officiating. Interment will follow at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. After the interment, all are invited to attend a time of continued fellowship with refreshments in the church reception area. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Craig to the Limestone United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2 Burleigh Avenue, Limestone, Maine 04750.
