CARIBOU – Dorothy Buzzell, 82, went home to be with the Lord on October 26, 2013, at a Caribou health care facility. Dot was born in Worcester, MA on May 31, 1931, a daughter of Alexander and Olga (Kangas) Gates.
Dot was a 1949 graduate of Auburn High School and a 1952 graduate of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester. She was an active member of the United Baptist Church of Caribou, serving as past Sunday School and Vacation Bible school teacher and pianist, and active in Mission Circle and Adult Fellowship. She loved spending time at Madawaska Lake. Dot cherished gathering her family and friends around her table. She hosted most every holiday and family birthday at her home on Garden Circle or at the lake. She stuffed everyone to the brim with homemade meals and treats.
Dot is survived by her children, Jean and her husband, William Duncan, Joyce and her husband, Edward A. Malone, David Buzzell, and Betty Buzzell; grandchildren, Edward R. Malone and his wife Angela, Katie Malone, Carl Anderson, Erik Anderson, Amanda Buzzell, and Kayla Buzzell. In addition she leaves behind great-grand-children, Faith Buzzell, Madelyn Buzzell, Anna Malone and Simeon Malone; and her brother Robert Gates of Massachusetts. Dot was predeceased by loving husband of 58 years, Ronald; and two sisters, Margaret and Elizabeth.
Friends and family called on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street Caribou. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a reception at the funeral home. Interment followed the reception at Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Caribou.
