A few months ago we told you about the Dragon Librarian, Miss Lotta Scales, who was very protective of the books in her care. She learned from a precocious reader just how important books are to many children.
A sequel by Carmen Agra Deedy with illustrator Michael P. White is now available for the Christmas dedication program and it is a doozy.
Imagine Mike Krochip invading a library and whisking all the books away to be replaced entirely by electronics. Would any respectable librarian tolerate such a change? NOT the Dragon Librarian, NO Way!
Besides having the children relate their feelings about books, the dragon begins to devour every electronic piece in her sight. The author uses many current terms for electronic additions to the library such as “byte”, “printers”, “tablets” and “download.”
Of course, there is a happy ending with room for “real books” and the newer versions; a satisfying conclusion to a “Lotta” confusion. So much fun!
