Pictured are, from left, front row: Mazie Oulette, who won in the baby to age 3 category dressed as a cute puppy, shown with her mother, Melissa Cray. Middle row: Mackenzie Moro (ages 4-6) dressed as an old lady, and Darby Clark (ages 7-9) as a mime.     Held Saturday, Oct. 28, the hall was packed with costumed children and parents as they celebrated the festive Halloween season. Children enjoyed games, dancing, a coloring contest and costume contest. Music was provided by KC and Company DJ Service.
Jessica Nason-Eastman and Lendell Tarr, along with several volunteers, once again gave their all to ensure the children of the community had a safe and fun place to gather for a night of fun.
“It was so nice to see all the fun the kids were having; lots of smiling faces,” said Nason-Eastman.
Kiah Albert was the coloring contest winner. Costume contest winners were as follows: baby to age 3, Mazie Oulette, who was dressed as a puppy; ages 4-6, Mackenzie Moro, dressed as an old lady; ages 7-9, Darby Clark, as a mime; ages 10-13, Camryn Curtis as Mother Nature; and ages 14 and up, Hippie Michael Gudreau.
Nason-Eastman and Tarr wish to thank all of the volunteers who assisted with the party and everyone who came out to enjoy the event. They look forward to next year.

Aroostook River Voices fall concert

The Aroostook River Voices will present a concert Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Ashland District School auditorium. The theme of the fall concert will be “Something Different — Splashes of Talent.”
This presentation will continue to feature the full 80-voice chorus, however, the “Something Different” will be in the form of solos, duets and trios by members of the group. In addition, members of the chorus will demonstrate their instrumental talents by performing in such groups as a clarinet choir, a raucous saxophone group, and a low brass rock and roll band! To add to the event, Amy Steadman has a group of dancers ready to entertain.
After the concert, refreshments will be served in the cafeteria. Aroostook River Voices is sponsored by the Ashland Alumni Association. Donations will be accepted.

Hunters’ breakfast

The Ashland Fire Department will be hosting its fourth annual hunters’ breakfast Saturday, Nov. 9 from 4-9 a.m. at the firehouse. Breakfast will include pancakes served with hot maple syrup, homemade hash browns, eggs, sausage, bacon, homemade toast and breakfast beverages.
This “all you can eat” meal will cost $6 per person. There will be baked goods for purchase, as well. Door prizes will be drawn throughout the morning (with thanks to our local merchants)! Raffle tickets will also be sold with the proceeds going toward holiday gift baskets and needed fire department equipment. Three raffle tickets will be drawn toward the end of the breakfast. You do not need to be present to win.
The fire department, as always, wishes to express their appreciation for the community support in making this a memorable breakfast!

Indoor craft fair and flea market

Tillikum Chapter 99 Order of the Eastern Star will present its annual indoor craft and flea market Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Rec Center on Exchange Street in Ashland.
Besides all the wonderful crafts and flea market items, there will be a food sale and raffle basket. Tables are still available for crafters or flea marketers for a small donation of $15. This is a great opportunity to sell your crafts and wares while supporting a worthy local organization.
