Jovanni Taveras of Washburn ran for 133 yards on four carries and scored on three of them, while Greyson Sonntag of Mapleton had 72 yards on three carries and a pair of touchdowns.
Dylan Paddleford of Caribou, who split quarterback duties with Sonntag, scored a touchdown and ran for 38 yards on two carries. He also recovered the game’s opening kickoff for what amounted to a 30-yard onside kick, setting up his team’s first score.
Noah Rosado of Caribou hauled in a 22-yard pass from Sonntag for his first touchdown of the season.
The Huskies’ defense was spectacular throughout the contest, with great team tackling. The squad yielded no points to Madawaska’s offense as their only score came on a kickoff return.
“The boys played great team football the past two weeks,” said Huskies’ coach Jon Frederick. “Their offensive play was fantastic all season, but I am proud of how hard they worked to improve on defense. This is an excellent football team that will continue to excel in the future at the high school level.”
The local football team finished with a 6-0 record, with two victories each over Valley, Houlton and Millinocket.
