PRESQUE ISLE — The Northern Maine Figuring Skating Club (NMFSC) recently received a $1,500 grant from the Saxifrage Opportunity Grants Fund of the Maine Community Foundation to establish a website for better communication and outreach and to purchase a laptop with software needed for proper bookkeeping.

“This grant will allow us to develop a website to enhance communication with our current membership and to support outreach to others that have interest in joining our club,” said Mindy Aube, president of NMFSC.
The club offers skating lessons for all ages at the Presque Isle Forum. Skating began Oct. 17 and ends with the 32nd annual Musical On Ice, slated for March 15, 2014.
The Northern Maine Figure Skating Club is a member club of The United States Figure Skating Association.
The principal purpose of NMFSC is to foster figure skating on ice and provide instruction, practice, and advancement of skills for members in central Aroostook County and adjacent areas. Anyone interested in learning more about NMFSC or signing up for lessons can send an e-mail to nmfigureskating@gmail.com.
