Spring Break Maple & Honey of Smyrna was honored at the 54th annual North American Maple Syrup Council (NAMSC) conference, walking away as winner across multiple categories.
Spring Break placed first in the Maple Candy, second in the Maple Cream and third in both the Maple Sugar and Dark Amber Maple Syrup contests.
“We are so honored to be nationally recognized for our natural and pure maple products,” said Kristi Brannen.

The Smyrna-based company is owned by Kristi and Kevin Brannen. It has been an area staple since 1998. Focusing on creating natural, eco-friendly products, Spring Break specializes in maple cadies, syrups and creams.
The North American Maple Syrup Council conference was held in Moncton, N.B. with more than 300 attendees. Spring Break competed against 14 states and four Canadian provinces. They were able to showcase their award-winning products to maple producers across North America.
“The purpose of the NAMSC is to promote the best interests of the maple syrup producers to establish standards and to integrate industry standards of maple syrup and its derived products,” Brannen explained.
Those who attended the four-day NAMSC event were able to experience trade shows, educational and technical workshops, along with tours of the Hopewell Rocks and the Bay of Fundy Coast.
Along with being voted one of the top maple syrup companies in North America, Brannen added, “2013 has been good to us. This is the second time our maple products have finished with top honors, with our first in June at the Maine Maple Mania in Jackman. Our Maple Cream and Maple Candy also took first place honors and Best of Show. We also received a second place for our medium amber maple syrup.”
