Mr. and Mrs Carl Shields have recently spent a few days at their summer home at Shin Pond and while here visited with family and friends. Sunday, Oct. 27, they visited with Clayton and Charlene Webb before returning to their home in Bristol, Conn.
Mr. and Mrs Malcolm have left recently to spend the winter months at their home in Englewood, Fla., and are looking forward to returning in the spring. The new edition to Sam’s house is coming right along, with Mike Nadeau and his crew doing all the work.
So far, the weather has not been a problem and before you know it, the roof will be on. I have three big crows that have been coming to roost in the big birch tree out back about mid-afternoon, so I have been treating them to a few breadcrumbs every other day. And I think I still have a woodchuck under my front steps — do they hibernate, I wonder? I really don’t know their habits.
Lots of chickadees now and a few juncos, blue jays and, the other day, saw two mourning doves on my front lawn. also, the doe and her two fawns have been arriving late afternoon to graze way down back near the woods. Maybe they feel safe there as no hunters are nearby. I haven’t spotted the buck in awhile and am hoping that they will all survive the hunting season and return during the winter.
