On Saturday, Nov. 16, there will be a meeting held at the Chan Center of Cary Medical Center in regard to the upcoming formation of a Marine Corps League. Craig Faye has started up a chapter in Aroostook County.
This meeting is really important to attend for those who are interested in gathering more information, learning more about the Marine Corps League or just stopping in to take a look at things. Anyone who is interested can stop in between 1 and 5 p.m.
The Marine Corps League is open to Marines and Navy Corpsmen. Currently, there are 76,000 men and women that are a part of the Marine Corps League, and starting a chapter in northern Maine will surely increase that number. Craig Faye, the organizer of this chapter, said that one of the many reasons he has decided to do this is to give back the community.
“Once a Marine, always a Marine,” Faye said.
There has not been a league in the region since the 1980s, and Faye believes creating a new chapter will allow Marines of northern Maine the chance to be a part of something after returning home. There are currently 14 league detachments in the state of Maine; soon to be 15.
“Each Marine has their own story,” Faye said.
Opening a chapter in Aroostook County will allow Marines to share their stories.
Marines from all around Maine will be present to celebrate the opening of this chapter.
