    OHIO – Stanley E. Holmquist, age 83, of Heath, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 6, 1930, in Caribou, Maine to the late Harold W. and Jennie (Carlson) Holmquist.
    Mr. Holmquist served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked thirty years in the Public Utilities field for the cities of Delaware, Sunbury and Heath, Ohio. Stanley held certificates as a Class III Water Supply and Class III Wastewater Works operator. He was a member of the American Water Works Association, the Water Environment Federation and was inducted into the prestigious ā€œ5Sā€ of the WPCC. Mr. Holmquist was also the winner of numerous AWWA and WEF awards. He served as an Operator Training Committee of Ohio instructor for many years, and was a life member of the American Legion, a member of the Buckeye Heisey Collectors Club, the National Wildlife Association and the National Audubon Society.
    Stanley, a loving husband, father and grandfather, is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary J. (Rackley) Holmquist, whom he married on December 18, 1971; a daughter, Ingrid R. Rubal of Heath; her son, Tyler (Brandi), and their children, Dean and Keira; a son, Erik J. (Nancy) Holmquist of Johnstown, and their daughters, Sara, Mary and Amanda; step-son, Robert R. (Linda) McLeish; their sons, Bob and Shawn (Eileen), and their daughters, Hallie, Amber and Reagan; a sister, Haroldine Carr of Malden, Massachusetts; and numerous nieces and nephews, very special friends at Apple Tree Auction House, his bowling buddies, friends and co-workers at the City of Heath Utilities Department and casino buddy, Alyce Jeanne.
    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nita Beth (Moore) Holmquist; and a brother and sister-in-law, Fred W. and Alice Holmquist.
    Friends called from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, November 4, at the Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, at the Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Tom Beeman officiating. Burial followed at Newark Memorial Gardens where the Licking County Veterans Alliance provided military honors.
