Houlton Council of Catholic Women met Nov. 4 in the parish center at St. Mary of the Visitation Church. Lynette Dobbs, president, was in charge.

Guests were Lorraine Quint and Bill Roach, husband of member Bernette. Lynette welcomed all and members recited traditional prayers. Reports were given by treasurer Mary Grant and new secretary Charlene Tabb gave the report from the October
meeting.
Council purchased heaters from the local Knights of Columbus; gave a check towards St. Mary’s fuel fund and $500 will be given to the Food Pantry at St. Mary’s, officially a community project.
A question about Council’s luncheon at meetings was solved when they voted for both sweets and sandwiches.
A sizable check will be forwarded to one of the local churches for its Backpack fund.
Rosary will be recited at future funerals, if the deceased family desires. Rev. David Raymond, moderator of Council, or Deacon Albert Burleigh will assist if no HCCW member is available for this prayerful action.
Copies of Keep in Touch newsletter from Maine Diocesan Council of Catholic Women were available. Danielle Kenney audited the books.
Saturday, Dec. 7 is the date for the Christmas Fair. Molly Bailey is our representative and Council will sell tickets on a wreath, donated by Jane Mitchell. Council will not have a Giving Tree this season, but blankets will accompany food baskets at Christmastime.
The Salvation Army will accept a check from Council, to help the needy.
Sue Hardy thanked Council for their thoughts of get well during her time of sickness. The door prize was won by Lorraine Quint.
Dec. 2 is the date for the next meeting — our Christmas party. At that time, a game will be played suggested by Lynette.
A decade of the Rosary was led by Lynette at the ending of the meeting, several prayers being offered by members
