CARIBOU – Herman “Sonny” Tracy, 69, “For Land Sakes”, after a long illness with his heart, Sonny went home to walk the streets of gold with his heavenly father on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at a Caribou Hospital. Sonny was born on December 28, 1943, in Caribou, the son of William and Roween (Williams) Tracy.
As a young man, Sonny worked on the farm with his Grampy Herman Holmes. He loved his horses, cows and chickens. He started his meat cutting career with Uncle Earl Pack. He worked at Sleepers for twenty years, and then had Tracy’s Gun Shop and Sonny’s Jewelry Store. He was a standing member of the Caribou Assemblies of God, he served as a deacon, a Royal Ranger Commander and also served in the Bus Ministry.
Sonny is survived by his children: Carla and her husband, Bryan Picard of Caribou, Kurt Tracy of Stockholm; Cynthia Tracy his ex-wife; his sisters and their spouses: Phyllis and Steve McLellan of Caribou, Rosie and Robert Cameron of Caribou, and Marlene Askinazi of Portland; his grandchildren: Seth Tracy of Stockholm, Ethan Tracy of Oregon, Felicity Haywood of Oregon, Olivia and Brandon Picard of Caribou; his great-grandchildren: Colton and Jackson Haywood of Oregon. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sonny was predeceased by his brothers: William (Billy) Tracy and Baby Galen Tracy.
Friends and family called from 6-8 p.m., on Saturday, November 16, at the Caribou Assemblies of God Church, where a funeral service was held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, Rev. Jeremy McLellan officiating. Interment was held at Evergreen Cemetery. Following interment, there was a reception held at the Caribou Assemblies of God Church.
