FORT FAIRFIELD — The Fort Fairfield Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus and VFW, together with other local service organizations and businesses, are once again coming together to provide a free Seniors Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner.

The dinner will be held at the VFW Hall on Presque Isle Street (Route 1A) in Fort Fairfield, Thursday, Nov. 28. Homebound deliveries will begin at 11:30 a.m., while serving at the hall starts at noon.
“A holiday tradition in Fort Fairfield for close to 30 years, this event provides a free turkey dinner with all the fixings to Fort Fairfield senior citizens, residents who may be homebound, and citizens who otherwise might not have a holiday dinner to enjoy,” said Carl Young, president of the Rotary Club.
With the Fort Fairfield High School girls’ basketball team and other volunteers acting as servers, typically more than 80 citizens attend the dinner and enjoy the fellowship and entertainment at the local hall, while close to 100 who are homebound and cannot come out have dinner delivered to their homes by volunteer drivers, many of whom have been volunteering for most of their lives.
Leftover prepared dinners are donated and delivered to the Homeless Services of Aroostook shelter in Presque Isle.
Citizens requesting homebound meal deliveries, as well as those who plan to attend the dinner, are asked to call the Fort Fairfield Town Office at 472-3800 for more information and to register.
