Ecumenical Thanksgiving service set for Nov. 26

    The public is invited to attend a community Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service to be held at St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. The service will be followed by food and fellowship.

    Envoy Damon Hayward will give the message, with other pastors and laypersons from other denominations taking part in the service and special music.

    The offering will go to the Salvation Army fuel fund and the Southern Aroostook Ministerial Association (SAMA) Emergency Fund. Baskets will be placed at the door to receive canned goods for St. Mary’s Food Pantry.
    Trying to follow Jesus’ command to “love one another” (John 15:17), SAMA meets monthly for fellowship and to discern how to help those in need. Ecumenical services are also planned for the public during the Lenten and Easter seasons. Participating churches are: First Baptist, First Congregational (UCC), Good Shepherd Episcopal, the Church on the Hill (Military Street Baptist), Quaker Worship Group, St. Mary’s Catholic, Salvation Army, United Methodist Churches in Houlton and Hodgdon and Unitarian Universalist.
