PRESQUE ISLE – Mildred Spooner, 85, passed away early Sunday morning, November 24, 2013, at a Caribou health care facility. She was born on May 4, 1928, in Beaconsfield, N.B., Canada, the daughter of Witmore and Pauline (Fox) Hammond. She worked as a cook at Cunningham school, worked at Taterstate Foods in Washburn, and then as a librarian at Cunningham school for six years.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, George Spooner of Houlton; two sons and their wives, Donnie and Melanie Spooner of Houlton, Scott and Teresa Spooner of Ashland; two daughters, Connie Driscoll and her husband, Norman of Presque Isle, Marcia Munson and her friend, Ray Parks of Eagle Lake; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle with Rev. James Ackerson officiating.
