On Oct. 22, Rep. Bernard Ayotte (R-Caswell) presented Teddi Ward Boston with a Certificate of Acknowledgement from the Maine State Legislature for having been the first woman to hike the Pacific Crest Trail alone. The Pacific Crest Trail is 2,650 miles long, and the Limestone native began her trek in early April; it took Boston five months to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, concluding her endeavor in September of 1976. Boston graduated Limestone High School in 1944, and is employed presently as a Wilderness Park Ranger on the Pacific Crest Trail. She lives in Landes, Ca., but when she returned home for a few days in October, Ayotte presented her with the certificate. It reads, “We the members of the Senate and House of Representatives of the Great State of Maine, congratulated Teddi on her unique adventure.”
