Belanger, Clair R., 55, November 27, 2013. Arrangements by Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
CARIBOU – Clair Roland Belanger, age 55, on November 27, 2013, went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a long and courageous battle with illness. Clair was born to Clairmond and Pearl (Bell) Belanger on July 23, 1958. The youngest of six children and the only boy, Clair was doted on and very much loved by his parents and sisters.
Clair had a sense of adventure that he acted on throughout his life. From working on a shrimp boat off of the coast of North Carolina to taking a job as a radio DJ in Nome, Alaska, Clair never let anything stand in his way of a new experience. He was also one of the most hard-working and determined people you could ever meet. His “can do” spirit and wonderful sense of humor was evident even into his last days of life.
In the early 1980s, Clair began working as a carpenter in Texas and quickly learned that carpentry was a passion of his and one in which he excelled. Clair became a master journeyman carpenter and supervised many large residential and commercial construction sites in Texas, Connecticut and Arizona. His favorite carpentry jobs of all though were those he did alongside his father, Clairmond.
In the mid-1990s, Clair moved back home to Northern Maine to be closer to his family. It was at this time that he met the woman who would become his wife, Tanya (Young) Belanger. Their love of music brought them together and soon friendship turned into love. Clair and Tanya were married on July 19, 2003 and enjoyed ten years together as husband and wife before his passing.
Clair is survived by his wife, Tanya, of Caribou and their special little dog, Dakota; his mother, Pearl of Caribou; four sisters, Pauline (Belanger) Soucier and her husband David of Caribou; Donna (Belanger) Doucette and her husband Ray of Caribou; Brenda (Belanger) Sperrey and her husband Loren of Hermon; and Carol (Belanger) Bell and her husband Rhonello of Washburn; his father-in-law and mother-in-Law, John and Dianne Young of Caribou and his brother-in-law, Stephen Young and his wife Kristen of Buford, Georgia. Clair also leaves behind a very special niece who was like a little sister to him, Lynn Nye, of Minot, ME; two very special friends, Leo and Kim Sirois of Caribou and several nieces and nephews.
Clair was pre-deceased by his father, Clairmond Belanger, and by his oldest sister, Clarice (Belanger) Johnston.
