LIMESTONE – George Pease Jr., 76, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 1, 2013, at a Caribou healthcare facility following an extended period of declining health. He was born April 23, 1937, in Northwood, NH, the son of George Sr. and Dorothy (Corliss) Pease.
He received his education in Northwood, NH, and served his country with the United States Air Force from May 3, 1954, to December 6, 1957, and achieved the rank of Airman 1st Class, retiring from Loring Air Force Base, Limestone. George was a member of the American Legion Levasseur-Farrell Post Number 49, Van Buren, and was a Master Mason at Limestone Masonic Lodge Number 214 AF&AM, where he served in several positions. He had been employed at St. Paul’s Episcopal School, Concord, NH as a grounds keeper for many years prior to relocating to Limestone. George greatly enjoyed refinishing furniture, gardening, collecting Tonka trucks and sharing fellowship with his friends at Limestone Lodge.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by one brother, Richard Pease. He is survived by his soul mate, Jeannie of Limestone; two sons, Dan and Lon Pease, both of Virginia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Pease, Charles and Judy Pease; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion and Joe Lovely, Grace Pease, Joan and Lee Leffel, all of Northwood, NH; two step daughters, Billi and Nicki, both of Deerfield, NH. He also leaves behind Jeannie’s children, who he loved as his own, Heidi Shorette of Presque Isle, Stephen Bernier of Bucksport, Kevin Bernier and his wife Sue of Verona Island; Jeannie’s grandchildren, Samantha of Philadelphia, PA, Ian and Ansley of Verona Island; Jeannie’s great-nephews affectionately known as the “Little Hooligans” Brennan, Colin, Carson, Colby, Kaleb and Owen Poitras; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his cats, Bonnie and Clyde, who will miss him.
Friends may call Thursday, December 5, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where a Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted by the officers and members of the Limestone Lodge Number 214. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at Advent Cemetery, Limestone in the spring with the Pastor Ellen Cleaves officiating.
