    PT Jasper HardyAmerican Flag ColorNEW LIMERICK & ELKHORN, NE – Jack Hardy passed away in Elkhorn, Nebraska, November 22, 2013, at the age of 99 years, 5 months, and 22 days. He was born May 31, 1914 at Houlton, the son of Charles E. and Hepsie (Estey) Hardy.
    He was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Hepsie Hardy; brothers, Garnet and Basil; sister, Olive Morehouse; and his beloved wife of 64 years, Burnette Lois (McQuarrie). He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Ann and Clifton E. Hammond, Elkhorn, NE; grandson, Craig H., Blair NE; granddaughter, Kimberly L. Lienemann, Valley, NE; great-granddaughters, Madison (Mandy) Lienemann and Danielle R. (Lloyd) Myers; great-great grandchildren, Serenity Nicole, Jonathan Avery, Jenasis Karynn, Jaelynne Merie, Julianna Elizabeth Myers, Papillion, NE; many nieces and nephews.
    He worked as a radio-electrician for Haley’s Music Store, Houlton, and later as manager for Day’s Jewelry Store, both in Houlton and Rockland. Burnette and Jack moved back to “the County” in 1984, finalizing a dream by building their home by the lake in New Limerick. Jack was a finished carpenter who always had to be building or fixing “something.”
    He served in the Army Service Forces-Signal Corps during WWII. He was a member of the Rockland Lions Club for 30 years; a lifetime member of Monument Lodge AF & AM, Houlton; and an avid amateur radio operator.
    Jack and Burnette enjoyed many years traveling to visit family and friends and camping with the Ham Radio Club and with their camping group. In recent years, Jack spent the majority of his time in Nebraska where his greatest joy was “the kids” (along with Max the lab and Oreo the cat). Grampie Jack was never without his “lollipops”; he will be greatly missed.
    Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home 11 a.m. on Sunday, December 1 until a Celebration of Life was held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Houlton Evergreen Cemetery.
