According to the Christian Civic League, the Minuteman Award is presented to legislators or other state leaders who effectively and courageously advocate for life, religious liberty and traditional values.
“Rep. Willette’s leadership influenced the strong support we received from Republicans on our informed consent, parental consent, and wrongful death bills this year,” said Carroll Conley, the League’s executive director. “I thank him for his hard work and dedication on issues that are important to the Christian Civic League and its members.”
Though the bills supported by the League faced uphill battles in the Democrat-controlled legislature, they were able to gain near-unanimous support among Republicans and bipartisan support in a few instances thanks to the efforts of Conley and Willette, who serves as the assistant House Republican leader and represents 10 towns surrounding Presque Isle.
“The Christian Civic League is a beacon of faith and family in Maine,” said Willette. “I am honored to accept this award as it will serve as a reminder of the importance of fighting for the values that the League so persistently works to advance.”
