Cora is a young spayed female cat at the Halfway Home Pet Rescue who is just so mellow and loving that volunteers consider her to be a symbol of the real Christmas Spirit. She has all of her medical work done and is more than ready for a home that will appreciate her gentle loving personality. Volunteers say that Cora was brought to the shelter with a litter of kittens that were not hers, but she watched over them for their safety. Cora gets along well with other cats and would be sweet with children. “You can’t find a better companion for your elderly parents either,” HHPR President Norma Milton said. “She is alert and curious, but also very clean about herself and her environment.” As the rescue’s “special” cat this week, Cora’s adoption fee is $25. HHPR’s Christmas fundraiser is a drawing for a beautiful cat-themed Trollbead bracelet donated by Monica’s Scandinavian Imports on Sweden St., in Caribou. Milton says it has a value of over $650 and the winning tickets will be drawn on Saturday, Dec. 21, just in time for Christmas. Tickets are $5 each or three for $12. Tickets can be purchased by contacting HHPR board member Mary Rowe at 999-1075, or at local outlets. The proceeds will benefit the rescue’s medical and spay/neuter fund.
