The Houlton Rotary Club’s auction provides funds for many programs in the local area each year. One of the programs this year is for the Lexia program at Houlton Elementary School. Lexia provides a computerized,
phonics-based reading program allowing students to independently practice the skills they need in their reading groups. They are able to practice on computers in the classroom and at home during the summer to help prevent regression of skills. The program tracks the student’s progress and provides skill reports to the teacher. It also provides certificates of progress for the students.
