In grade 6, Devin White and Alya Theriault were chosen for the honor.
CMS Principal Leland Caron said White is an extremely conscientious student. He is involved in the Gifted and Talented program. “He is always striving to do his best and is always prepared for new learning experiences that come is way,” the principal said. He enjoys the outdoors, especially hunting.
Theriault is involved with both band and chorus programs, as well as being a homeroom representative to the CMS Student Organization. She is also part of the Gifted and Talented program. According to Caron, “Alya is a joy to have in class, and is constantly striving to be helpful to both her peers and teachers.”
The seventh-grade teachers from CMS have chosen Andrew Mendez and Noah Hixon as their November Students of the Month.
Mendez is said to be a very pleasant young man with a strong work ethic, who is very kind to others and always willing to help out in the classroom or run an errand around the building. He enjoys reading and can often be found with a good book during his down time. Caron noted, “He has a ‘never give up’ attitude and continues to work hard in his classes. He has a strong character and is a positive role model for his peers.”
Hixon has been cited as an exemplary student at Caribou Middle School, where he participates in the band, cross country running and baseball. “Noah’s positive attitude and approach help him to be extremely successful in every endeavor. He is a joy to have in the classroom and represents CMS with pride,” said Caron.
The eighth-grade teachers have selected Matthew Nadeau and Brooke DeMerchant as Students of the Month.
Nadeau, an active member of the CMS community, loves running or playing baseball and basketball. He is currently playing on the grade 8 boys’ basketball team and is also an active member of the CMS Band. He enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting. The principal stated, “Matthew is an excellent member of our school community. Congratulations Matthew, and keep up the good work.”
DeMerchant was chosen because of her willingness to help others and her ability to set an example. She is involved in cross country and cheerleading and the school, and would also like to manage the wrestling team and be on the ski team. “She is always willing to help a fellow classmate or teacher, often without being asked, Caron said. “Brooke is a wonderful role model to all students, and sets a great example regarding schoolwork and the treatment of fellow classmates, schoolmates, teachers and adults.”
