Barbara Aiken, left, presents Farms Bakery owners Barb and Joe McDonald with a certificate of appreciation for their work with the children’s gingerbread project. The couple donated their time and all the ingredients to bake the pieces for 214 gingerbread houses. The icing components and candy for decorating were given by Sleeper’s. Aiken volunteers with the project, which lets children from all over the central Aroostook area who are registered at the center decorate their own edible creations to take home for the holidays.

The event coincided with other holiday activities taking place at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center on Dec. 6.
