Although TAMC acknowledges all of its employees are VIPs, those with over 20 years of service are given the designation V.I.P. — Veterans-In-Partnership. The impressive gathering of TAMC’s most tenured is celebrated at a breakfast each December.
This year’s event was especially significant as it marked the 25th anniversary since the V.I.P. program was initiated in 1988. It was also impressive by the numbers, as nine employees joined the V.I.P. ranks, bringing the total number of TAMC team members currently in the program to 169, which is nearly 17 percent of the non-profit health care organization’s workforce. Altogether, the V.I.P. team members have a combined 4,837 years’ of service to TAMC.
The nine employees who have reached the 20-year milestone of service and are now part of the V.I.P. group include Annette Lawrence of Blaine, a nurse at the Mars Hill Health Center; Kerry Michaud of Mars Hill, nurse at Aroostook Pediatrics at North Street Healthcare in Presque Isle; and from the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill: Jill Lunney of Mars Hill, intermediate care unit; Paula Gallupe of Blaine, environmental services; and Rattiya Pierce and Nancy Grant, both of Mars Hill, food service.
Also, from the A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital: William Doak of Presque Isle, central registration; Catherine Rehill of Presque Isle, day surgery; and Norman Roy of Eagle Lake, quality management services.
“We are very fortunate as an organization to have such talented and dedicated employees who have spent either their entire career or a good portion of their career with us,” said Tom Umphrey, TAMC vice president, employee services. “These team members have contributed to our growth and have helped mentor many employees over the years.”
Among those honored this year were six employees who have been with TAMC for 40 or more years. Umphrey was quick to note that the team members actually “qualify for two memberships as TAMC V.I.P.s.”
Those recognized for service of 40 years or more include Janet Sawyer of Easton, physical therapy; Cheryl Flannery of Fort Fairfield, coding; Eugene Curtis of Presque Isle, support services; Cynthia Chalou of Mapleton, who works at TAMC Family Practice and Internal Medicine; Donna Dean of Mapleton, medical records; and Cinda Patten of Presque Isle, respiratory therapy.
