Recent guests of mine have been son, Tom and grandson, Chris and wife Amanda, all from Glenburn. They had a good visit plus lunch at the River Cafe, before leaving for home.

I received a nice phone call recently from Dave Brewer and wife, Linda. They are spending the winter in their home in Silver Springs, Fla. and enjoying every minute. He also informed me that his sister-in-law, Claudia Young, has been in poor health since October and is now at the Gardiner nursing home and would love to have a card or a note from friends and relatives.
I have been a busy person the past week or so, during this cold snap, keeping my feathered friends fed.  They really like the peanut butter and lard mixture I make for them and between the blue jays, woodpeckers, starlings, chickadees, gold finch and kinglets, gray squirrels and red squirrels also, I am hard put to keep them all supplied. They really go for the mixture and then head for the sunflower seeds. I have been putting out breadcrumbs, too, mixed in with sunflower seeds and the mourning doves like that combo. I have decided to throw out some big breads pieces out by the barn as I have seen deer tracks around and they must be hungry. I will see if it is gone by morning. If they eat it I will throw in some apple pieces next time.
