ASHLAND, ME & TEXAS – Anna Ferne Danforth Wakefield died peaceful on December 28, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 19, 1930, in Cambridge, MA, daughter of Ferne Baker and William Danforth.
Anna is survived by husband, Percy Wakefield Jr.; children: Camille Wakefield, wife, Sue, children, Adam Wakefield and Amy White; Wanda Wakefield, husband, Bill Yale, son, Kirk Smith; Peter Wakefield, wife, Claudia, son, Joseph; Jayne Wakefield, daughters, Samantha Michalka and Angela Michalka; Phyllis Walker, husband, Jeff, children, Stephanie Walker and Brandon Walker; Alan Wakefield, wife, April Gray-Wakefield; and many great-grandchildren.
Along with Anna’s biological family, she greatly increased her family to include in-laws, stepchildren and her children’s friends. She accepted and welcomed all into our home and many affectionately called her “Mom”. They still carry warm memories of Anna and have maintained caring relationships for many years, especially Patsy Wakefield.
Anna enjoyed cooking for her family and in her career. She worked for many years in the Ashland schools and was loved by the students and staff. She worked for other businesses in food service. We all loved her breads, desserts and other tasty dishes. All of our lives have been enriched by Anna’s example of opening her home. It is with honor and love that we remember Anna as a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend; who shared insight into what a true and enduring relationship is, one of Love, Respect, Dignity, Companionship and Kindness.
There will be a memorial service on January 18, at 1 p.m., at The Ark Church, 450 Humble Tank Rd, Conroe, TX, 77304; (936) 756-1988.
