Dollars for Scholars announces talent show

Do you juggle? Can you play an instrument? Are you a contortionist or maybe you sing, rap or yodel? Houlton/Hodgdon Dollars for Scholars will be hosting a talent show, Sunday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. at the Houlton Community Arts Center.

Any singers, musicians, and those who have other talents are encouraged to apply. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. For those who are planning to audition for the upcoming Northern Star singing competition, this event could serve as a practice run.
Applications are available at Country North Gifts, York’s Bookstore, Houlton and Hodgdon High School, T & S Market, and both schools’ websites.  There is no charge to enter the talent show. However, those competitors who wish, may give a donation to Dollars For Scholars.
According to Sue Pierce, one of the event organizers, there will be a “Judge’s Choice award,” “Audience’s Choice” award and a “Most Enthusiastic” award for the person or group who seems to be enjoying it the most. Medallions will be awarded for these categories.
Tickets to attend the show are $6 for adults, $4 for students or $15 for families. For more information, call the high school at 532-6551.
